3. SHOUT OUT: I'd like to give a shout out to one of my readers, Carol. On our return flight, from Atlanta to West Palm Beach, I was approached by Carol, she stopped by our row and said, "Excuse me, do you write a running blog?"

She was so super sweet, (not to mention gorgeous... meanwhile it was a reminder to me that I really should put on makeup and fix my hair before a flight.Eeek, I'm surprised she recognized me :) It really made my day to hear a stranger call me an "inspiration". It also kind of made me feel like a celebrity to be recognized randomly like that. :) Thanks Carol, and congrats on your weight loss!

4. ITS ABOUT TIME: Ive finally caught up to the rest of the running world and read Born To Run.I have to say, it was one of the most thought provoking books I've read in a long time. I seriously wish it was like 800 pages longer, I devoured it way too quickly.

5. ALL THE COOL KIDS ARE DOING IT: And, since you could probably sell me oceanfront property in Arizona... .I went out and picked up a pair of these babies.

Obviously, getting custom orthotics AND a pair of Vibrams within a few weeks of each other seems a bit contradictory. For now I will say (in bold, so maybe you'll actually read it): I have NO intention of running in these anytime soon. I am in the middle of marathon training, and the orthotics seemed to have actually helped the pain associated with the Tarsal Tunnel Syndrome. I don't want to risk messing anything up by taking up barefoot running on a whim. That being said, I am interested to see what all the hype is about, so I will wear them casually and MAYBE fiddle around with them running wise AFTER the marathon.

6. WEEK 3 COMPLETE: Yesterdays 12 miles closed out week 3 of marathon training for me. I'm super proud of yesterday because I ran it ALONE. I've gotten a little too comfortable always having a training partner. It was a nice change of pace for me to get out there by myself. The first 6 were done outside, then the rain moved in and I hopped on the treadmill for the remaining 6.
