(When will I be able to hear the word milkshake without getting that dumb song stuck in my head?!?!)
We are 7 weeks out from Rock N Roll San Antonio and I am feeling rejuvenated in my dedication to the end goal. I have a 16 miler on the schedule for Sunday, despite a tough run earlier this week, I feel confident my 16 miler will go well. (power of positive thinking)
I have an appointment with a specialist today for my heel pain. I look forward to getting a fresh perspective on it and am hoping for some relief.
I've had a great week of trying new things. Like I talked about in my last post, I have been pushing the crosstraining pretty hard. I expected to be exhausted by the time I finished my 2nd workout for each day, but instead I have found myself energized.
Last night my husband and I had a date night. We went to Alamo Drafthouse. It is basically a movie theatre/drafthouse/restaurant combined. They serve you food and drinks while you enjoy a movie.
We saw the new Drew Barrymore/Justin Long movie: Going the Distance. It was a fun movie.
Everytime I go to Alamo I am intrigued by a certain item on their menu: the Guinness Milkshake.
I'm actually a pretty big beer fan, but could NOT imagine why anyone would drink an ice cream/guinness concoction. But, its remained on the menu so I figured someone must enjoy it.
After enjoying a delicious Veggie Burger I went ahead and took the plunge (in the name of science with some peer pressure from THIS guy) and ordered the shake.
I would love to show you a picture... but its apparently difficult to get a good picture in a dark movie theatre. I DID make my husband try, twice. But when you use your BlackBerry to very quickly sneak pictures they just don't turn out. On the fear that my flash would get us kicked out we abandoned the photo thing.
Use your imagination.
It was a lot of this:
With a some of this:
and a little of this on top:
put it all together and you get this:
Yes, it was DELICIOUS! I have no idea how, but they blended nicely together. It was also surprisingly strong. I seriously felt a bit of a buzz, but marathon training has made me a lightweight. As much as I enjoy beer I've had maybe one in the last 4 months. (Thanks for that Shiner Janna-I owe you one.)
I've always thought Guinness was a meal in a bottle, and this milkshake confirmed that. I split it with my husband, and we still weren't able to finish it.
The date was a great start to the weekend. (because apparently my weekend starts on Thursday night)
Hope everyone has a fabulous weekend!
