The Connection Runners

Eating lighter, Blogging lighter

Now that its summer (and don’t EVEN try to convince me its not summer. The 100 degree temperature yesterday tells me differently), I’ve noticed a few things happening naturally.

#1. I am eating lighter. Obviously, when it’s a million degrees outside I don’t want heavy food. This past week I’ve consumed TONS of fresh fruit and have found myself craving crunchy raw veggies. I’m drinking lots of water to compensate for the heat, and it’s not unusual to realize at the end of the day that I haven’t had a real “meal” but have instead been munching on natures goodness in small amounts, but at frequent intervals throughout the day.

#2. I’m blogging lighter. I have to say, I LOVE LOVE this insane heat. Well, I love it when I can enjoy it poolside, I could do without the heat during my runs. We’ve been spending most of our time playing outside. I just can’t seem to bring myself to dedicate a lot of computer time inside when the sun beckons outside. So when I am reading posts, its on my phone as I sip a frosty beverage (water) and get some Vit. D.

#3. Schedules changing: Anyone that knows me knows that we stay up super late and then sleep in. I know, I lead a hard life.

Smile

. Lately I seem to have lost my ability to sleep in. I’ve been semi-frustrated about that, but have decided to just accept it and go with it. I’m not sure what that means, but I know I will be doing less and less night running. After spending the day in the sun at the pool, I’m struggling to find the energy for my usual 10pm runs. I have a long summer of marathon training ahead of me, and as the miles get longer I know the only reasonable thing to do will be get up early.
