"Don't tell me my business Devil Woman. Call the fire department, this one's outta control....eh, poop again." "He called the shit 'poop'!"
Name that movie? Anyone?
Upon moving to Boulder almost 2 years ago my first impression was that Boulder has lots of rules and lots of rules that people complain about. For example, for those of you who are not in Boulder, there are crosswalks that surround CU's campus. You can push a button and lights flash, which are supposed to signal to drivers to stop for the pedestrian.
I actually think these are a good idea. This is probably because I benefit from them more than I think they are a pain in the ass. Some people have a completely different view - they think they are really dangerous and should be removed. I know of someone who refuses to use them. They are somewhat dangerous: I've almost been hit. But anytime someone crosses a busy street, it's going to be dangerous. Drivers should be aware of people crossing the street (and the blinking signs) and walkers (or bikers) should be aware of drivers who might not be paying attention.
Another rule, that I used to think was draconian, is their dog poop rule. Dog's poop, so what? Well, there is a lot of crap on the trails. You can find some info here, which shows all the location of dog poop that was found on the trails before Boulder initiated their regulations. Boulder people love their dogs, but they don't like their waste. Sometimes they write songs about it: I'm not kidding.
So, you might be wondering - what prompted this? Apparently Wyoming is having a problem with (sh)it. Happy running, WY!
